Are you feeling overwhelmed? It’s not uncommon to feel overwhelmed as we all barrel towards the holiday season. For many, feeling overwhelmed can lead to increased stress which doesn’t feel good, and can ultimately lead to shutting down. Focus on the task ahead of you to change that mountain back into a molehill!
TIP: Focus on the step, not the staircase. Here are some suggestions that might help:
Break tasks into smaller, more manageable chunks: Don't tackle everything at once! Completing small tasks feels good (thank you, dopamine!), and builds momentum.
Set realistic goals and expectations: Know your limitations - your goals should be achievable! Once you have taken the first step, take the next one and continue focusing on each step until you get where you want to be.
No is a complete word: It's okay to say no! It can be hard for some - practice saying no if you need to.
Practice time management and reduce distractions: The fewer distractions you have, the more productive you will be and the less stress you will have.
Detach from social media: Studies show that taking a week off of social media reduces anxiety and stress! Give it a try!
Keep track with a daily to-do list: Prioritize tasks and mark things off as you complete them! When you look back at the end of the day, you will see how much you have actually accomplished!
Don't give up! Keep climbing and be proud of yourself and of every accomplishment along the way!
